The manual plasma torch I have in my shop will cut 3/4" metal pretty good but it is slow at this thickness. My manual plasma torch uses around 50 psi air and 50 amps 240volts.

08-02-2010, 01:01 PM. I use both. In 1/4" a plasma like the Miller 375 will cut faster than a torch. If you get into thicker like say 1-1/4" you need to spend the big bucks for the plasma that will cut that like the Hypertherm 1000 or 1250, I have the 1000. The torch will cut that pretty easy until you have the need to spend $$.
